SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Safety & Compliance Manager to join a new build Energy from Waste power station in Tilbury, Essex. Once built this site will process over 350,000 tonnes of waste per year generating enough electricity to power over 90,000 homes.

This role is responsible for the management and monitoring of health, safety, environmental and compliance systems across the site, working closely with the Plant Manager and leadership team to ensure a no-compromise approach to safety and regulatory compliance.

The role will involve:

  • Managing and monitoring site safety systems, procedures and safe systems of work (SSOW)
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental permits and licences, including interpretation of emissions data
  • Developing and maintaining working plans, audits and compliance programmes
  • Managing risk assessments, method statements and H&S documentation
  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing corrective and preventative actions
  • Advising site leadership on potential safety, environmental and compliance risks
  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and PSSR
  • Liaising with external bodies such as the Environment Agency and local authorities

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Experience gained in a similar role from Energy from Waste, power generation or a highly regulated process environment
  • A NEBOSH qualification as a minimum
  • Experience working with permitted and regulated activities, preferably within a controlled emissions environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to embed a safety and compliance focused culture
  • Knowledge and experience of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
  • Awareness of relevant standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001
