SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for an Assistant Plant Operator to join the operations team at an established Energy from Waste power station in Dunbar. This is a hands-on operational role supporting the safe, reliable and efficient day-to-day running of the facility. Working under the direction of the Shift Team Leader, you will carry out operational activities across the boiler house, turbine hall and wider plant while helping to maximise availability and minimise downtime.

The role will involve:

  • Conducting routine plant walk-arounds, inspections and equipment monitoring
  • Checking plant performance and reporting defects or abnormal operating conditions
  • Carrying out first-line mechanical and electrical maintenance where trained
  • Operating mobile plant, weighbridges and overhead travelling cranes
  • Coordinating the safe delivery and unloading of lime, carbon, ammonia, gas oil and other consumables
  • Assisting with plant start-ups, shutdowns and planned outage activities
  • Supporting loading, unloading and general site operational activities
  • Updating shift logs and providing accurate handovers to the incoming shift
  • Working in accordance with plant procedures, safe systems of work and manufacturer guidelines
  • Reporting accidents, incidents and near misses in line with site procedures
  • Supporting the Shift Team in maintaining plant availability and operational performance

To be considered, you should have:

  • Previous operational, production or maintenance experience within a similar heavy process environment - power generation, waste management, anaerobic digestion, paper production etc.
  • Experience working with industrial plant, machinery or process equipment
  • A strong understanding of health and safety within an operational environment
  • The ability to identify equipment defects and undertake basic first-line maintenance
  • Good communication and IT skills, including the ability to maintain accurate operational records
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The flexibility to work 12-hour shifts covering days, nights and weekends
