A leading technology company based in Oxfordshire is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join its growing team. With software at the core of both product innovation and internal systems, this is a pivotal leadership role reporting directly to the Head of Engineering.

The Role
As Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering software that underpins advanced engineering products and internal platforms. You’ll balance hands-on technical input with strategic oversight, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard while developing and growing your team. This is a role with real impact — shaping both the technical direction and the culture of the engineering function.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor and grow a team of software engineers

- Technical Leadership
- Provide direction across architecture, design and implementation
- Promote best practices in coding, testing, DevOps and delivery
- Guide technology choices and system integration
- Delivery & Execution
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of software projects using Agile methodologies
- Plan sprints, manage resources and ensure timely delivery
- Work closely with product owners and cross-functional teams
- Identify risks and drive effective solutions
What We’re Looking For
- Core Experience
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams
- Track record of delivering complex software projects (including Agile delivery with teams of 5+)
- Strong technical background in C#, WPF and modern web technologies
- Solid understanding of software architecture, CI/CD, testing and scalable system design
- Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in engineering, hardware or product-driven environments
- Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Familiarity with React, C++, Docker, Linux or GPU acceleration (e.g. CUDA)
- Exposure to navigation, mapping or similar domains
- Interest in emerging tools such as AI-assisted development
- Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working (minimum 3 days onsite in Oxfordshire). Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance.
