A career opportunity has arisen for a Sales Engineer with a strong technical background in physics, engineering, or motion control systems to join one of the UK’s leading photonics equipment suppliers. This is an excellent opportunity for a solutions-driven Sales Engineer to join an established and highly respected business, recognised for its technical expertise and ability to deliver innovative motion control and photonics solutions.
The company is a leading supplier of advanced photonics and precision engineering equipment, including motion control and nano-positioning systems, lasers, optics, opto-mechanics, and spectroscopy solutions. As technical specialists, they have built a successful international business across the UK, Europe, and North America, delivering high-performance and often bespoke solutions to customers in research, industry, and advanced engineering environments.
The Sales Engineer will join the Photonics Products Group and will take responsibility for the motion control and positioning product portfolio, including precision positioning, alignment, and automation systems. You will be responsible for both sales and post-sales support, working closely with customers to understand their application requirements and develop tailored solutions. This is a field-based role covering the UK and Ireland, requiring travel to customer sites (on average two days per week).
To be considered, you will need:
- A BSc, MPhys, MSci (or equivalent) in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years’ relevant industry experience
- A proven track record in technical or consultative sales
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions
- Experience in motion control, precision positioning, automation systems, or related technologies is highly desirable. However, candidates with a strong technical background and experience in consultative technical sales will also be considered.
