An award-winning market-access consultancy is looking to recruit a experienced Biostatistician/ Statistician with a strong background in statistical modelling (survival analysis, network meta-analysis, ITC’s etc.) to join their famed Health economics modelling team. The Health Economics Modelling Team
The Health Economics Modelling team are experts in creating intuitive scientifically robust and clinically appropriate models. They are the team companies come to when they require specialist modelling expertise. They excel across all model types and are recognised experts in creating de novo models which translate complex problems clearly and transparently.
The role
Health Economists are responsible for efficient, high-quality execution on health economics (HE) projects and HE elements of cross-collaborative projects. They are expected to be able to implement economic models, run analyses and prepare relevant dissemination materials independently and contribute to proposals and internal initiatives to improve the way the company works
The main duties and responsibilities of the Health Economist include:
- Understand the model development process, including the technical skills of designing and building a health economic model (CEM, BIM, COM, DTM, early models)
- Review, extract and analyse data to be used to inform economic models (e.g. health care costs, quality-adjusted life-years, productivity losses)
- Independently develop high-quality and relevant economic models, technical reports and user guides, seeking guidance and support as needed
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to solving client challenges and research questions whilst critically evaluating value propositions within the context of the evidence base available within a project
- Implement high quality, relevant models in Excel and VBA and/or R based on agreed concept or protocol
- Adapt and conduct health economic analysis on global models to inform local HTA dossier development
- Develop models that are transparent and user friendly
- Actively participate in research dissemination including publication and presentation of research.
- Work collaboratively with the HE team and other business units across the business, as well as with clients and external collaborators
- Understand project briefs, scopes and budgets and identify ambiguity or risks and escalate as appropriate
- Begin to manage small projects, ensuring detailed knowledge of timelines and project plans
- Embed HE principles across projects, ensuring deliverables are consistently and clearly communicated
- Understand the role the company plays in providing evidence for the process of pricing, reimbursement, and market access
- Support proposal development and project pitches as required
- Comply with all internal reporting and project management systems, ensuring relevant information is kept up to date, including but not limited to, CMAP and Bob
- Contribute to internal team meetings as relevant
- Act as mentor or buddy to new team members as appropriate
To be considered for the role of Health Economics Modeller you need the following:
Education
- A degree in Science/ Healthcare or Engineering.
- A post-graduate qualification would be desirable.
Experience
Essential:
- Proficient in Excel/VBA. Experience with other languages (e.g. R) desirable
- Experience in Indirect Treatment Comparisons (ITC’s)
- Experience of statistical modelling (Survival Modelling, Network Meta-Analysis (NMA) etc)
- Growing experience in Project Management
Desirable.
- Relevant experience working in market access or HEOR consultancy.
- A proven track record of developing HE models for the life science industry.
- Experience of stakeholder engagement/business development.
