The role

You’ll run our paid media in-house, starting with Meta, taking over the day-to-day running of paid media from our agency. You’ll report to our CMO, who leads marketing.

We’re a fast-growing UK direct-to-consumer brand running legally compliant online prize draws for high-value prizes. We work in twelve-week competition cycles, each built around launch, urgency and closing offers. Paid social, especially Meta, is our main source of new customers.

This is a small team, not an agency department. You’ll work day to day with our CMO, our CCO (commercial, forecasting and data), our data analyst (reporting) and our videographer-editor. Your time is protected for performance first.

Room to grow: you’ll join as a manager with no Head of Performance above you. Our aim is for this role to become Head of Performance within 12 months.

What you'll be responsible for, and what you'll grow into

  • For your first six months, you’ll run paid media within a strategy and budget that our CMO sets, and be responsible for delivering it. From month six, you’ll own the paid strategy and be accountable for its results, with our CMO signing off overall budget and the split across channels.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Meta performance. Planning, building, launching and optimising campaigns across each twelve-week competition cycle, against agreed ROAS and new-customer acquisition cost targets.
  • Budget and phasing. Spending to plan across the cycle and moving budget as demand changes. Peaks around launches and draw closings are very large.
  • Creative testing. Running a structured testing plan (hooks, formats, angles, audiences) and turning the results into a brief for the next round of creative.
  • Performance insight. Using our weekly all-channel report and end-of-cycle review (spend, revenue, ROAS, CAC, new versus returning customers) to explain what's driving results and what to change next, checking platform-reported results against our own data and incrementality tests rather than taking in-platform ROAS at face value.
  • Tracking. Making sure the pixel, Conversions API, UTMs and audiences are set up correctly and kept that way, with our commercial and data team.
  • Channel expansion. Once Meta is stable, testing and then scaling other social channels, starting with TikTok. In time, overseeing Google too, with the aim of bringing it in-house.
  • Ad compliance and account health. Making sure every ad meets the CAP Code, ASA guidance and platform policies for prize promotions, including 18+ audience targeting and clear free-entry and significant-terms wording, and keeping our ad accounts in good standing (disapprovals, restrictions and appeals).

You’ll collaborate on:

  • Creative briefs and scripts, with our CMO and videographer-editor
  • Whitelisting creator and UGC content for paid use (partnership ads)
  • Campaign planning for each cycle, with our CMO
  • Landing page and offer tests, with our CMO
  • Remarketing and customer-list audiences, with our CRM lead

Where this role can go

This is our first in-house performance hire. You’ll be hired as a manager with no Head of Performance above you blocking the way up. As spend scales and we add TikTok, Snapchat and Google, you’ll take on more channels and more budget.

Our aim is for this role to become Head of Performance within 12-18 months: owning paid strategy, the channel mix across every paid channel, and hiring and leading, accountable for results, and building the team as it grows. The step up is linked to results. We’ll review your scope, title and pay at six months and again at 12 months.

On top of a £55,000–£65,000 salary, depending on experience, there's a bonus of up to 10%, paid each competition cycle against agreed new-customer acquisition KPIs.

First 90 days

The first months are about learning the business and its data, not just watching a dashboard.

  • Weeks 1-4: You’ll have done it when you have admin access to every ad account, pixel and audience; you’ve reviewed the existing account setup and past performance with the agency and our CMO; and you can explain what drives results in a cycle. You’ll have done it when you’re running live campaigns day to day without agency support; you’re using our weekly report to steer spend; and your testing plan is agreed with our CMO.
  • Weeks 9-12: You’ll have done it when you’ve completed a full cycle review against targets; you’ve briefed creative from your test results; and you’ve written a proposal for testing TikTok.

How we work

We have a flat structure and we’re building out our in-house team. We want people who act without waiting to be asked, hold views grounded in data and experience, and are happy to challenge and be challenged. Nothing is beneath anyone’s pay grade here: if a job needs doing, we get stuck in and do it.

What you’ll bring

  • 3–5 years of hands-on paid social experience, with Meta at the core. You’ve built and run accounts yourself, not only overseen others running them. We’re equally happy to hear from client-side and agency-side candidates.
  • Demonstrable experience managing significant monthly ad budgets for an e-commerce or direct-response brand, with results you can show on ROAS and CAC.
  • A clear, practical approach to creative testing: how you structure tests, read results and turn them into briefs.
  • Confident with data. You’re at home in Ads Manager, AI ad tools and spreadsheets, and comfortable checking platform numbers against a second source.
  • A working understanding of pixel, Conversions API and UTM setup.
  • You already use AI tools and bulk-upload software (such as admanage.ai) to work faster.
  • You’re comfortable owning results in a small team, without layers of agency support around you.
  • Background in prize draws, gaming, subscription or other high-frequency purchase businesses.
  • Experience advertising in a regulated or policy-sensitive category, including handling ad disapprovals and account restrictions.
  • Experience managing six-figure monthly ad budgets.
  • TikTok and/or Google, Snapchat Ads experience.
  • Experience with SQL or BigQuery, or a multi-touch attribution tool, or incrementality testing.
  • Experience with launch-and-close campaign cycles.
  • Experience shaping paid strategy, not only executing it, or a clear plan for stepping up to a Head of role.
  • Hands-on creative experience, such as writing copy, scripting or filming content.

Success, practicalities and interview process

At 6 months, success looks like: Full ownership of Meta paid, with plans, objectives and tests built by you and signed off by our CMO; Meta hitting the agreed ROAS and new-customer CAC targets for each cycle; a testing plan that produces at least one useful learning per cycle; a TikTok test live; and you’re ready to take ownership of paid strategy.
