We’re looking for a proactive and ambitious Senior Account Manager 1 to lead key client accounts and deliver high‑quality medical communications projects. This role is ideally suited to an experienced Account Manager ready to take the next step in their career, rather than an established Senior Account Manager. You will bring strong project leadership skills, scientific understanding, and a track record of successful account delivery and be ready to stretch into broader responsibility, greater autonomy, and team oversight.
As a Senior Account Manager 1, you will oversee the smooth delivery of complex, multi‑workstream projects - ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional standards at every stage. You will play a pivotal role in developing client relationships, shaping account strategy, driving financial performance, and mentoring junior team members.
The role will involve:
- Building and maintaining strong, trusted client relationships and acting as a key point of contact for both strategic and day‑to‑day discussions.
- Leading client meetings, presentations and status calls with confidence and clarity.
- Anticipating client needs, adding value proactively and identifying opportunities for organic account growth.
- Overseeing end‑to‑end delivery of multiple, complex medical communications projects.
- Creating accurate project estimates, schedules and resource plans.
- Briefing and coordinating internal teams across content, creative and digital functions.
- Ensuring all outputs are high‑quality, scientifically accurate, compliant and aligned with client expectations.
- Managing project budgets, financial performance, forecasting and profitability.
- Ensuring timely logging of costs, invoicing and reconciliations.
- Mentoring and line‑managing Account Managers and Account Executives, supporting their development.
- Promoting best practice in communication, project management and client service across the team.
- Contributing to pitches, proposals and capabilities presentations.
- Supporting Account Directors in shaping long‑term account and project strategies.
In order to succeed in this role, you will need the following:
- Scientifically literate, with a bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in biomedical sciences) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience within a medical communications agency, with strong exposure to Medical Affairs.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare environment, including medical affairs functions, compliance requirements and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working across multiple therapy areas, with prior exposure to immunology being advantageous.
- Demonstrated success delivering a wide range of medical communications activities.
- Proactive, confident and able to build strong, positive relationships quickly with both clients and internal teams - a true go‑getter.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Experience mentoring or line‑managing junior team members.
