We are looking for a talented Scientific Team Lead to join Scientific Group in a pivotal role that combines strategic client partnership with scientific and editorial leadership. You will work closely with key immunology accounts as a trusted advisor, applying insight into client strategy to shape projects and proposals and deliver effective, innovative medical communications aligned with clients’ strategic outcomes. Alongside this, you will take overall responsibility for the quality of a broad range of medical communications deliverables.
Drawing on your editorial expertise, attention to data integrity, and quality control experience, you will both contribute directly to projects and guide your team to produce work of consistently high scientific and editorial standard, adding real value for clients.
The role will involve:
- Managing a team of medical writers to ensure efficient delivery of high-quality materials, incorporating regular performance and development review.
- Performing internal review of materials and ensuring the delivery of accurate, concise and insightful material across a wide range of project types, audiences and formats.
- Providing targeted hands-on input into projects as needed.
- Collaborating with account management, creative and digital teams to scope, schedule and resource work, and deliver it to budget and deadline.
- Forming strong client partnerships, and engaging in effective interactions with thought leaders and external teams.
- Providing on-site or virtual medical writing support for meetings and events.
- Applying understanding of specific therapeutic areas, and offering scientific/strategic leadership and support to members of the content team.
- Providing input to business development activities and generating ideas for new and enhanced products and services, on an ad hoc basis.
- Working with others on the senior team to identify training needs, contributing to training efforts, and ensuring team members work in line with agreed processes.
In order to succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:
- Prior experience in immunology is essential.
- Proven experience in medical communications, medical education, medical publishing or healthcare advertising.
- Proven experience of line-managing medical writers/editors.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good organisational skills and ability to plan.
- Enthusiasm for communicating science to the ultimate benefit of patients.
- A life science degree, or equivalent, is essential; higher degrees are desirable.
