The role will involve:

  • Managing a team of medical writers to ensure efficient delivery of high-quality materials, incorporating regular performance and development review.
  • Performing internal review of materials and ensuring the delivery of accurate, concise and insightful material across a wide range of project types, audiences and formats.
  • Providing targeted hands-on input into projects as needed.
  • Collaborating with account management, creative and digital teams to scope, schedule and resource work, and deliver it to budget and deadline.
  • Forming strong client partnerships, and engaging in effective interactions with thought leaders and external teams.
  • Providing on-site or virtual medical writing support for meetings and events.
  • Applying understanding of specific therapeutic areas, and offering scientific/strategic leadership and support to members of the content team.
  • Providing input to business development activities and generating ideas for new and enhanced products and services, on an ad hoc basis.
  • Working with others on the senior team to identify training needs, contributing to training efforts, and ensuring team members work in line with agreed processes.

In order to succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Prior experience in immunology is essential.
  • Proven experience in medical communications, medical education, medical publishing or healthcare advertising.
  • Proven experience of line-managing medical writers/editors.

  • Enthusiasm for communicating science to the ultimate benefit of patients.
  • A life science degree, or equivalent, is essential; higher degrees are desirable.
