A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated supervisor to manage and motivate a team based within our busy Packaging department. Scientific Games International Ltd is a subsidiary of the $1Billion pa turnover, globally renowned Scientific Games Corporation. Our purpose-built, state-of-the-art printing facility in Leeds supplies lottery scratch cards to clients in Europe. Recent investment has seen the installation of a new, additional flexographic printing press to serve our growing customer base.

As a Packaging Supervisor, you will be required to meet daily production targets and will constantly be looking at ways to increase KPI’s whilst maintaining a high level of quality at all times.

You will be responsible for leading and motivating a large team of 32 employees, encouraging team members to seek continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for implementing cost reductions and safety programmes to ensure the quality and quantity of work output.

The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday on an alternate early (0600-1330) and late (1330-2100) shift pattern.

Your duties will be varied and will include:

  • Supervise daily operations on the shopfloor.
  • Lead a production team of circa 33 employees.
  • Schedule manning for the daily tasks and allocate employees accordingly.
  • Manage performance of the team, including investigations, disciplinaries and issuing warnings and sanctions if necessary.
  • Absence management, including handling absence reporting phone calls, return to work interviews and carrying out absence review meetings and issue warnings.
  • Assist HR with referrals to Occupational Health, reviewing reports and implementing any workplace adjustments.
  • Hold regular Health & Safety briefings with the team and feedback any concerns to Health & Safety management.
  • Submit overtime and any other additional payments to Payroll team, and look into any pay queries.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.
  • Provide management reports on production data.
  • Ensure appropriate training is in place for employees to carry out their roles, and maintain training records
  • Coordinate with other supervisors and managers to ensure efficient production levels (Print, Stores)
  • Arrange maintenance and repairs for production equipment
  • Carry out recruitment interviews for internal and external vacancies and provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates

The successful applicant must have:

  • Exceptional people management skills with experience of managing and motivating a team, along with the ability to get the best out of all team members
  • Proven experience of responsibility for operational and quality KPI’s
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to think on your feet and to prioritise tasks in a fast-moving environment
  • You will be self- motivated with strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to ‘think outside the box’
  • Knowledge of web packaging machinery and experience of working within a fast paced manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage, although not essential.

In return you will have the opportunity to gain fantastic experience working in a busy and friendly team, within a successful company. Furthermore, you will be given a competitive salary up to £45,000 as well as generous annual leave entitlement of 26 days per year plus bank holidays, and a pension scheme with a company match of 6% of pensionable salary.
