Help shape the tax strategy of a growing healthcare organisation – where your expertise directly supports patient care. We’re now looking for an experienced Group Tax Manager to take ownership of all tax matters across the Group and play a pivotal role in enabling compliant, future‑focused growth. This is a permanent position, hybrid working, coming into our Burton office at least 2 days a week.

As Group Tax Manager, you’ll be the go‑to expert for all tax matters, partnering closely with the Group Financial Controller, finance colleagues, and the wider business. Your work will span VAT, corporation tax, R&D claims, transfer pricing, and international tax considerations, ensuring both compliance and value creation. This is a highly visible role, offering genuine autonomy, influence, and the chance to shape tax strategy in a complex, regulated, and purpose‑driven organisation.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Acting as the in‑house tax lead, managing VAT, corporation tax, deferred tax, R&D, transfer pricing, and tax implications of commercial contracts; preparing and submitting monthly VAT returns, liaising directly with HMRC;
  • Managing annual corporation tax returns, R&D claims, and SAO compliance, working with external advisors;
  • Ensuring compliance with BEPS Pillar 2, regulatory, legal, and audit requirements;
  • Leading transfer pricing activities, including local file, master file, and policy ownership;
  • Advising on tax impacts of new business activities, products, and contracts;
  • Monitoring and interpreting new tax legislation, case law, and policy developments, providing clear, practical recommendations;
  • Supporting statutory accounts with tax‑related disclosures (FRS 102);
  • Working with overseas subsidiaries and advisors on international tax matters;
  • Building strong relationships across the business and providing tax training and guidance to finance teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • A professionally recognised tax qualification, ideally CTA (or equivalent experience);
  • Strong hands‑on experience across VAT, corporation tax, R&D, SAO, and transfer pricing;
  • Experience preparing tax disclosures for statutory accounts (FRS 102);
  • The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and partner effectively across the business;
  • A proactive mindset with strong analytical skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
