Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, United Kingdom

Role Information

As we continue to evolve our technology landscape, we’re looking for an experienced and visionary Director of Cyber Security to shape and lead our cyber security strategy across the organisation.

This is a rare opportunity to join the Technology Leadership Team and influence business-critical decisions at executive level, ensuring the security, resilience and integrity of systems that directly support patient care and healthcare services.

The Opportunity

As Director of Cyber Security, you will own and deliver the enterprise-wide cyber security strategy, ensuring risks are effectively managed while enabling innovation and business growth. You’ll lead security governance, risk, compliance, operational security and cyber resilience, embedding security-by-design across technology platforms, products and business operations.

Working closely with executive stakeholders, you’ll translate cyber risk into business terms, influence strategic investment decisions and drive a security-first culture throughout the organisation.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Defining and delivering the Cyber Security strategy and roadmap.

Leading governance, risk management and assurance programmes.

Driving compliance across key regulatory and industry frameworks.

Embedding security into cloud, SaaS, on-premise and modern software delivery environments.

Leading security operations, incident response and cyber resilience initiatives.

Overseeing identity and access management through Zero Trust principles.

Managing third‑party cyber security and supplier assurance.

Building and developing a high‑performing cyber security function.

Providing trusted advice and assurance to Executive and Technology leadership teams.

About You

We’re looking for a strategic leader who combines strong business acumen with deep cyber security expertise.

You’ll bring:

Proven experience leading Cyber Security functions within complex, regulated environments.

Executive-level stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Strong knowledge of cyber risk, governance, assurance and compliance frameworks.

Experience across cloud, SaaS and Microsoft-centric technology estates.

A track record of leading security operations, resilience and incident response programmes.

Knowledge of DevSecOps, agile delivery and secure software development practices.

The ability to communicate security priorities clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences or other highly regulated sectors.

ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and NHS DSP Toolkit environments.

Medical device or software‑as‑a‑medical‑device security.

AI security and governance.

CISSP, CISM or equivalent certification.

This is more than a cyber security leadership role. It’s an opportunity to protect critical services, influence organisational strategy and make a genuine difference to patient outcomes. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the security agenda, work alongside an ambitious leadership team and build a cyber capability that supports the future growth of the business.

If you’re a commercially minded cyber security leader who can balance risk, innovation and patient safety, we’d love to hear from you.
