About us

The Science and Innovation Park (SIP) in Wroughton is part of the Science Museum Group (SMG). The 545-acre site plays a vital role in the Group's sustainability activities and is surrounded by the stunning Wiltshire countryside, with lots of wildlife to spot around the site. It also hosts a range of commercial activities, including storage for the cultural sector, space for research and development projects, renewable energy generation and more. The Park is beginning to welcome members of the public and school visits as well as researchers and sector colleagues to view the collection, generating income and helping us to care for the collection for future generations.

To support this work, we are now looking for a full-time, permanent Duty Manager to join the team.

About the role

As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a fantastic experience for our visitors, colleagues and stakeholders who use the Park. You will be the site-based, operational manager supporting daily operations, using your experience and resourcefulness to manage activities at the Park and provide a response to a range of issues. You'll be supported by our Security and Estates Teams to ensure that the Park runs safely and effectively. You will be able to operate independently too, developing, managing and reporting on operational KPIs and service standards. You will manage incident response to keep our people and our collections safe, you'll work with teams across the site to facilitate events and visitor access and make sure that operational resources are in place and well managed, including the vehicle fleet.

About you

With experience of working in a busy operational environment, you will be an effective communicator, able to lead by example and manage and support individuals. You will bring a positive, solutions-focused approach, using your initiative to manage the site and ensure that visitor safety is at the forefront of all decision making. You will have a good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to identify hazards, potential issues and respond appropriately. Due to the nature and scale of the Park, a UK Driving Licence is required in order to navigate the site effectively.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
