Join the team empowering Deep Tech startups. Science Creates is looking for a highly organised Innovation Manager with a scientific background and project management experience, to support the design and operation of our UK-wide accelerator and venture support programmes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organising high-impact training, delivering engaging events and coordinating tailored 1:1 support, as well as working with a wide range of stakeholders β from academics and entrepreneurs, to partners and funders. You will work closely with our Innovation Lead and our Community & Partnerships Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work with technical founders and contribute towards the success of early-stage Deep Tech start-ups across the UK.
About Science Creates: Founded in 2015 by exited entrepreneurs, Science Creates is a Deep Tech ecosystem supporting scientists and engineers to turn breakthrough discoveries into successful businesses improving the health of people and the planet. Science Creates provides specialised lab space, investment, training and community support for startups from early-stage through to scale-up. Through its independent charity and public events, it inspires the next generation of scientists and entrepreneurs. Since 2015, the ecosystem has supported more than 150 startups, which have raised over Β£350 million.
The role:
- Operate our accelerator programmes to support Deep Tech companies across a range of stages and sectors β including coordinating multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Manage project finances and provide grant reporting to fundersβ required specifications
- Conduct feedback collection and data analysis to measure the impact of our innovation programmes
- Collaborate with partners and external stakeholders to plan, design and organise strategic events and training for our members and cohorts
- Work alongside the Community & Partnerships Manager to develop new initiatives that enable early-stage Deep Tech startups to access specialist infrastructure or equipment
- Represent Science Creates at external meetings and conferences where required
What we're looking for:
- Background in science β ideally PhD or MSc level
- Experience in community, multi-stakeholder or programme management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills β happy to work in a forward-facing role
- Highly organised, reliable and proactive β you make things happen
- Confident working with multiple stakeholders and managing a varied workload
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using digital tools
- A strong interest in startups, innovation and scientific impact
- A background in advanced materials, AI, physics or related discipline β comfortable discussing and reviewing technologies in these areas
- Experience of Innovate UK grant applications and management
- Familiarity with early-stage startups or science commercialisation
- Experience in managing innovation training, accelerator or incubator programmes
- Experience using tools like Airtable, Notion, Typeform, Calendly, and Stacker
- Exposure to the Deep Tech, biotech or advanced engineering sectors
