Position Objectives And Purpose
The purpose of the Breeding Specialist is to perform daily production tasks involved in the breeding process.
Essential Functions
- Conduct artificial breeding, as directed
- Perform daily heat checks on animals and check bred groups for recycles
- Perform routine and seasonal vaccinations, as directed
- Assist with monthly inventory counts
- Perform general feed maintenance on bred and open animals
- Ensure a proper animal environment, including but not limited to ventilation, water, and feed
- Ensure a clean animal housing environment
- Assist in power washing, as assigned
- Ensure that SFI training program requirements and procedures are being met and followed
- Maintain and follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
- Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
- Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation.
Documentation
- Assist in maintaining all sow breeding records and documentation on sow removal records, transactions, and treatment records
- Maintain PQA certification status
