Main Function
To support and assist the Buyers in delivering the business strategy for our organisation.
Location & Work Arrangements
This position is open to applicants based in the London area – working on a hybrid basis (2-3 days in the office).
Prerequisite Experience
Please note, applicants must have experience or be actively working as an Assistant Buyer.
Main duties & responsibilities
- Support and assist the Buyers in delivering the Buying strategy for the Business.
- Working closely with the Merchandising team and with guidance of BM/Buyer to manage and deliver the strategy for their department.
- Ensuring that their department ranges are bought and delivered in time with the Buying Critical Path and within OTB requirements.
- Working closely with the merchandising team to achieve target intake margins/sales and profit plan with the direction from BM/Buyer.
- Using sales and performance information to suggest areas for maximizing all sales opportunities.
- Supporting the BM/Buyer; to help build a commercially viable product range that reflects the schuh brand image and current trends.
- Understands market with strong competitor awareness.
- Manage supplier critical path to ensure deliveries are on time.
- Support the strategic direction of the partnership with all suppliers.

- Managing and supporting BAA’s on the team.
Wider Business
- Ambassador for the Buying team, working closely with Retail/Marketing/Ecommerce/Merchandising building strong relations with all stakeholders.
- Supporting the Buyers/Buying Manager/HOB/Buying Director in any other areas required.
- Ensure all communication adheres to the GDPR policies.
- Work with own initiative and as part of the wider team.
- Understand and comply with the Company’s Health & Safety policy & procedures.
- Carry out any other duties as required by Company management.
