We are seeking a highly motivated FP&A analyst to join our finance team. This role will support the Wealth Management FP&A Team, providing essential insights and analyses that drive decision-making and strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in management accounting, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to both financial reporting and business partnership.
The Wealth Management FP&A Team is responsible for the provision of insightful analysis, robust forecasting, and clear performance narratives to enable informed decision making for senior stakeholders across Wealth Management. To meet these requirements, the team produces monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting, as well as involvement in the Group-wide forecasting and budget process.
What you'll do
This is an important role providing an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain an understanding of the Wealth Management business through exposure to reporting, analysis and senior management. The financial analyst will play a critical role in the success of the Wealth Management FP&A team by collaborating closely with various stakeholders to produce accurate, timely and useful cost insight, taking ownership of analysis end to end, proactively identifying issues, and confidently explaining financial drivers and outcomes, while ensuring compliance with financial policies, process, and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Reporting: Prepare insightful variance analysis for performance reporting, focusing on explaining the underlying drivers and root causes, not just the outcomes. Work with the business to develop and update cost allocation drivers and provide analysis on any material changes to budget assumptions. Produce standardised reporting on a monthly and quarterly cadence to support finance business partners and senior stakeholders.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the business stakeholders and finance business partners in the development and system updating of annual budgets and quarterly cost re-forecasts.
- Performance Analysis: Track actuals vs targets for our key reporting metrics, including identifying trends, risks, and opportunities and use data to explain the 'why' behind performance movements through structured root cause analysis. Understanding and analysis of Steel management allocations into Wealth, liaising with Group FP&A and business stakeholders to challenge drivers and recharges.
- Process Improvement: Deliver accurate and timely finance process (budget and forecast system updating and reconciliations, allocation updates and reconciliation, and ensure finance systems remain aligned to business structures and changes) while also identifying opportunities supporting simplification and continuous improvement.
- Ad hoc Analysis: Provide support for ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required across the Wealth Management FP&A Team.
Qualifications
- Qualified with a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role within Financial Services, ideally within Wealth Management.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex financial information.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills, with experience in Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning being desirable.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills, focused on delivering practical solutions.
- Trustworthy and capable of maintaining confidentiality with sensitive financial information.
- Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and able to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships.
