A proactive, personable, and adaptable senior manager with Health and Safety experience to join our team of three. The current team head plans to retire in 2027, and we are looking for a Senior Manager who can initially focus on UK Health and Safety, then step into the global role and manage two members of staff when the current incumbent retires.

This role involves supporting all Schroders Group locations with a wide range of health and safety compliance activities. You will work closely with the Head of Health and Safety to develop and maintain procedures, systems, and awareness, helping the firm uphold the highest standards for a safe and healthy work environment—starting at our London office and across the UK.

The Health and Safety team reports into the Head of Risk and Compliance Frameworks and Reporting within the Group Risk team. It provides second line oversight and supports all locations to be compliant with the Group Health and Safety Policy and local legislation and escalates any issues as appropriate. In the London office, there is more of a dual role providing advice to different business areas and directly managing health and safety issues.

What you’ll do:

  • Have responsibility for ensuring the London office is fully compliant with legislation and the Group Health and Safety Policy.
  • Support and ensure all UK regional offices comply with relevant laws and the Group Health and Safety Policy; provide assurance and action plans after assessment.
  • Liaise with the Employee Forum on health and safety matters.
  • Ensure robust emergency procedures, deliver relevant training, and maintain trained responders.
  • Support company events and collaborate with events managers.
  • Advise staff and managers on health and safety matters and resolve issues.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigations, implementing pragmatic solutions in a timely manner.
  • Oversee ergonomic and workstation/maternity assessments; implement recommendations.
  • Support Schroders contract managers of outsourced service providers to ensure all health and safety issues are effectively and appropriately managed.
  • Provide oversight for major facilities projects.
  • Shadow the Head of Health and Safety to support global locations during absences.
  • Support the team with additional tasks as needed.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:

  • Proven Health & Safety management experience in a multi-site organisation.
  • Proven working knowledge of writing risk assessments and reports.
  • Relevant professional training and/or membership (e.g. relevant Diploma or Degree, CMIOSH membership).
  • Experience of managing a team (ideally).

What you’ll be like:

  • Flexible, team player.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to recommend practical problem-solving solutions.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills with the ability to gather, manage and present data in various formats.
  • Initiative and self-confidence; able to apply themselves successfully to diverse projects and topics.
