A strong understanding of the financial services industry is essential.
You should be comfortable operating from pre-programme mobilisation through to production, shaping solution direction on complex change while safeguarding the long-term coherence of the platform.

The base
We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre, and we have everything we need to work flexibly.
The team
The Asset Management Platforms department at Schroders is a global technology change delivery function that oversees and executes all technology delivery within the organisation.
The Client Engagement team sits within Client Technology and is responsible for all platforms associated with the provision of client relationship management, with a strong emphasis on the Salesforce ecosystem (including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Financial Services Cloud).
The core team is responsible for understanding business needs, solving complex problems, mobilising and delivering large change programmes, and maintaining the integrity of the Salesforce platform and associated capabilities.
What you'll do
- Own and evolve the end-to-end target-state architecture for the Salesforce platform across both our Public and Private businesses, balancing business value, scalability, security, maintainability and total cost of ownership.
- Define and champion the architectural principles, patterns, standards and guardrails that engineering teams design and build within, ensuring solution coherence across a multi-team, multi-workstream portfolio.
- Lead solution design for complex and early-stage (pre-project) initiatives, translating ambiguous business problems into robust, well-reasoned architectural direction with clear options and trade-offs.
- Own the integration architecture connecting Salesforce with upstream and downstream platforms (APIs, event-driven patterns, middleware such as Mule Soft, ETL and data platforms) to enable joined-up client journeys and high-quality, trusted data.
- Govern platform integrity—data model, security model, governor limits, org strategy, technical debt and release management—ensuring the platform remains performant, secure and sustainable as it scales.
- Provide architectural assurance across delivery teams through design reviews, technical governance forums and alignment to AMP enterprise architecture and Global Technology lifecycle standards.
- Take a holistic view of the target state, recognising that the outcome will often include changes to the business operating model and data architecture alongside the technology platform.
- Drive Dev Ops and CI/CD maturity from an architectural standpoint—branching strategy, environment and sandbox strategy, automated testing and release management—to accelerate delivery and reduce risk.
- Harness emerging AI capabilities—including Salesforce Einstein and Agentforce—to enhance productivity, decision-making and client engagement, guiding practical use cases from concept to a well-architected implementation.
- Ensure architecture reflects the regulatory and compliance context of asset management (for example, data privacy, client communications and marketing compliance).
- Mentor and coach engineers and analysts, lead by example on technical craftsmanship, and raise the architectural capability of the wider team.
- Collaborate with and contribute to relevant AMP architecture and delivery communities of practice, helping to define good practice and improve standards and ways of working.
- Work closely with the Client Platform Architect to ensure the Salesforce target state aligns with the wider Client Technology architecture and enterprise architecture direction.
- The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
- Extensive hands-on Salesforce experience within a large, global financial services organisation, with a proven track record of owning platform-level architecture and technical direction.
- Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA).
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect and System Architect; Platform Developer I/II highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of Salesforce architecture, data modelling, security, sharing, governor limits, org strategy and platform best practices, with the ability to take a holistic view of the target state across technology, data and operating model.
- Strong integration architecture experience using REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven patterns and middleware such as Mule Soft to connect Salesforce with the wider technology estate.
- Proven experience defining Dev Ops and CI/CD strategy and tooling (e. g.
Git, Copado, Gearset, Azure Dev Ops), automated testing and release management on the Salesforce platform.
- Ability to define architectural principles and guardrails and to govern delivery teams' adherence to them without becoming a bottleneck.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence at all levels.
- Strong knowledge and experience of the end-to-end SDLC (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid etc.) and modern engineering disciplines.
- Good eye for detail and hands-on experience of producing high-quality architecture artefacts, technical designs and specifications.
- Awareness of how regulatory and compliance requirements (for example, data privacy, client communications, marketing compliance) influence architectural decisions.
- Experience of working with global colleagues and stakeholders and sensitivity to cultural differences, time zones etc.
- Familiarity with sales enablement and content management platforms, ideally Seismic, including content automation, personalisation workflows, analytics and CRM integration.
- Experience delivering within complex, multi-vendor and third-party ecosystems, including management of strategic platform providers.
- Experience within client engagement, distribution or client relationship management functions in an asset or investment management context.
- Understanding of modern technology architectures, including cloud-based platforms and API-driven ecosystems, and how CRM connects with data lakes and analytics platforms.
- Exposure to AI-driven capabilities (Einstein, Agentforce) and how these integrate into platform architecture and client engagement workflows.
- What you'll be like
The ideal candidate for the Salesforce Platform Architect role will be a pragmatic and collaborative technical leader who takes pride in engineering craftsmanship while thinking strategically about the long-term health of the platform.
You will be comfortable making and defending architectural decisions, balancing business urgency with technical quality, and holding solution direction to account across multiple teams.
A natural mentor, you will raise standards across the team, lead by example, and engage credibly with technical peers and senior stakeholders alike.
Your innovative approach will drive the exploration of cutting-edge tools, patterns and AI-enabled solutions, ultimately enhancing platform quality and business outcomes.
