We are looking for someone with sharp analytical skills and an enthusiasm about markets. Being at the business end of our investment process, they should be diligent, methodical with a high attention to detail. They also need to be outgoing and personable, developing our counterparty relationships and able to articulate our ideas and investment capabilities to colleagues, clients and their advisors.
What you'll do:
- Execute fixed income cash and derivative trades for the Solutions group and other investment desks throughout the firm. Products will include repos, total return swaps, interest rate and inflation swaps, cash bonds, futures and cross-currency swaps.
- Provide cover for the execution of a wider array of products including FX forwards, equity and commodity derivatives.
- Advise colleagues and clients on market liquidity, pricing and execution market intelligence to support the decisions of other investment desks and end clients.
- Engage with counterparties to build our market knowledge and access to liquidity.
- Design and code investment tools to improve the processes and analytical capabilities of the wider business.
- Help expand Schroders wider investment capabilities – enabling us to trade with new products and in new markets.
- Be embedded within the Solutions Fixed Income business and support its growth and development.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:
- Familiarity with fixed income products and markets – ideally including derivatives.
- Care and diligence in execution of trades – being thorough and calm under pressure with a willingness to elevate when needed.
- Experience in programming and data-analysis with a willingness to use those skills practically to enhance our business and investment processes.
- An interest in institutional investor types including defined benefit pension schemes and life insurance companies. An understanding of asset-liability management techniques is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with a willingness to learn about complex financial topics and explain them clearly and concisely.
