We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Internal Audit Manager to join our dynamic team at Schroders. The Wealth Management Audit team has responsibility for the execution of Wealth Management audits globally. The Senior Internal Audit Manager will have several years’ experience leading internal audits specific to Wealth Management. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, audit delivery capabilities, and strong analytical skills to drive our Wealth Management audits efficiently and effectively.

The role of Group Internal Audit is to provide independent and objective challenge to, and assurance over, the Schroder Group’s control environment through effective evaluation of risk management, control and governance arrangements implemented by management. The department is led by the Head of Group Internal Audit who reports to the Chair of the Board Audit and Risk Committee and the Group Chief Executive. The Senior Internal Audit Manager will report to the Head of Internal Audit, Wealth Management, who reports to the Head of Group Internal Audit and the Chair of the Wealth Management Audit and Risk Committee.
What you'll do:
- Plan and lead internal audits across Wealth Management, as agreed with the Head of Internal Audit, ensuring clear scope, robust testing and timely delivery.
- Deliver audits to a consistently high standard, in line with IIA Standards and Schroders Group Internal Audit methodology and procedures.
- Contribute to Group-wide audits as a Wealth Management subject matter expert, partnering with colleagues to share insight and strengthen outcomes.
- Identify, assess and escalate key risks, control gaps and emerging issues promptly, using sound judgement and ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged.
- Produce clear, balanced audit reporting, communicating findings and actions in a way that supports improvement and informed decision-making.
- Monitor and follow up on audit actions, maintaining oversight of issue tracking and progress to closure.
- Build strong relationships across Schroders, staying close to business and regulatory developments and maintaining an up-to-date view of the control environment.
- Support reviews of change and projects (e.g., new initiatives, process changes, or remediation activity) where requested, providing independent challenge and assurance.
- Manage co-sourced audit partners when required, ensuring quality and alignment to Schroders’ ways of working.
- Lead and develop team members, including performance conversations, coaching and creating opportunities for growth and inclusive teamwork.
- Support the Head of Internal Audit, Wealth Management with the effective running of the team, substituting as required.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:
- Demonstrable subject matter expertise in Wealth Management processes, risks and controls.
- Thorough understanding of Wealth Management regulatory requirements.
- A control mindset, regulatory judgement and commercial awareness.
- Strong understanding of internal audit techniques including the IIA Standards.
- Excellent communication, time management and report writing skills.
- Ability to undertake domestic and international travel occasionally.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that’ll help:
- Proven ability to use AI-enabled and data analytics tools to support audit planning, testing and insight in a Wealth Management context.
- Demonstrated track record of auditing change and transformation activity, including programme and project governance, delivery risks and control design.
- Experienced in first or second line of defence controls testing for Wealth Management.
- Exposure to international audit work, operating across jurisdictions and regulatory environments.
- A recognised professional qualification in audit or accountancy (or working towards one).
