Reporting directly to the Head of Operations Risk & Control, the Lead Analyst plays a key role in strengthening the first line risk and control environment across Investment Operations. Working closely with operational leaders, technology teams, Risk, Compliance and Audit, you will lead key elements of the Risk & Control Framework, support strategic initiatives and transformation activity, and provide insight to help ensure risks are effectively identified, assessed, managed and reported. You will provide independent challenge, lead control assurance activities, oversee key risk assessments, and support governance forums with high-quality risk insight across the Global Operating Platform.
This role is suited to an experienced risk and control professional who combines technical expertise with strong stakeholder management skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the implementation, embedding and continuous enhancement of the Investment Operations Risk & Control Framework.
- Facilitate Risk & Control Assessments (RCAs) across Investment Operations.
- Provide challenge to control owners regarding control design, effectiveness and remediation plans.
- Lead risk-based control assurance and testing reviews across key operational processes.
- Review risk events and near misses to ensure robust root cause analysis and lessons learned including the mitigation of risk through issue/action plans management.
- Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), control effectiveness metrics and emerging risk themes.
- Support governance forums by producing insightful risk reporting and management information.
- Act as a key point of contact for Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance stakeholders.
- Support risk assessments associated with change programmes, technology implementations and strategic initiatives.
- Handle complex risk and control matters through to resolution, working closely with stakeholders across the business.
- Support the development of risk culture and control awareness throughout Investment Operations.
- Act as mentor and escalation point for Analysts within the team.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and increase automation within the control environment.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:
- Significant experience (7+ years) within Operational Risk Management, Controls, Audit, Assurance or Investment Operations.
- Experience facilitating risk assessments, workshops and governance discussions.
- Strong understanding of investment operations processes including trade lifecycle, reconciliations, settlements, asset servicing, valuations and data management.
- Capable of independently executing complex activities with accountability for outcomes.
- Demonstrates sound judgement in assessing operational risks and control effectiveness.
- Natural aptitude for root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Strong analytical capability and ability to interpret data and trends.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience coaching and supporting more junior colleagues.
- Strong written skills with the ability to present information clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills; Power BI experience desirable.
- A strong team player, adept at cultivating and maintaining productive relationships with global internal departments and external partners.
