Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a hands-on high-calibre architect for our Investment Technology platform who combines strategic thinking covering both business and technical architecture disciplines within a front office orientated global asset management technology environment.

The Platform Architect is responsible for the end-to-end technical strategy, architecture, standards, and roadmap for one or more technology platforms.

This leadership role demands deep knowledge of current and emerging platform technologies and end to end business flows covering Investment / front office capabilities.

The Platform Architect ensures platforms are designed and evolved for consistency, scalability, convergence, and alignment to enterprise technology strategy—enabling business outcomes across all domains.

About Schroders

We’re a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we’ve been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn’t change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

The Asset Management Platform (AMP) is a global technology change and delivery organisation responsible for delivering the platforms that underpin Schroders’ investment, client and operational capabilities.

AMP brings together a set of business-aligned technology platforms—including Client, Investment, Group Operations, Data and Finance—into a single, integrated asset management capability, enabling consistent, scalable and value-driven outcomes across the firm.

Operating within a platform-centric model, teams are aligned to business outcomes while leveraging shared enterprise capabilities across architecture, data, engineering and delivery to drive standardisation, reuse, and speed of execution.

The Platform

The Investment Platform is a core domain within the Asset Management Platform, supporting the full front‑office lifecycle from research, quantitative analysis and investment solutions through to portfolio construction, order generation and trading.

Operating as a business‑aligned, outcome‑driven platform, it brings together integrated teams, shared data and standardised engineering and delivery practices to enable scalable, high‑performance investment capabilities.

As part of a broader, enterprise Asset Management Platform strategy, the Investment Platform plays a critical role in harnessing data and AI, simplifying the technology landscape, and delivering the tools and insights that underpin investment decision‑making across the organisation.

What you’ll do

  • Platform Ownership: Own platform architecture, technical standards, and patterns—ensuring alignment to enterprise overall strategy.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on leadership and deep expertise in specific technology platforms (e.g., cloud, data, integration, security).

  • Platform Roadmap: Develop, maintain, and communicate platform roadmaps aligned to business and technology objectives.

  • Standardisation and Convergence: Drive platform standardisation and convergence across technology pillars and business domains.

  • Continuous Improvement: Enable continuous evolution and improvement of the platform ecosystem, ensuring platforms remain secure, resilient, and performant.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with domain architects, business stakeholders, and the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure platforms meet current and emerging needs, align with enterprise direction, and support business strategy.

  • Architectural Governance: Contribute to standards, principles, governance, and the architectural community at the platform level.

  • Consultation: Provide technical input and guidance to business-led projects and domain architects.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Proven experience as a Platform, Domain or Enterprise Architect within a complex, large‑scale technology environment, ideally within asset management or financial services

  • Strong understanding of front‑office investment capabilities, including research, quant, portfolio construction, order generation and trading workflows

  • Demonstrable experience defining and delivering platform strategies, target architectures, standards and roadmaps, with clear alignment to business outcomes

  • Direct experience with Aladdin or equivalent front‑office investment platforms, with a strong understanding of how such platforms integrate across the investment lifecycle and wider technology estate

  • Deep knowledge of modern architecture principles, including event‑driven architecture, API‑led integration, cloud-native design and data-centric platforms

  • Experience operating within platform-centric operating models, driving standardisation, reuse and convergence across multiple domains and teams

  • Strong understanding of data platforms and data architecture, with experience leveraging data to enable advanced analytics and AI-driven capabilities

  • Proven ability to establish and enforce architecture governance, standards and assurance, working within enterprise guardrails and contributing to broader architecture communities

  • Ability to translate complex business strategy and investment domain requirements into clear, scalable technology architecture and design decisions

  • Hands-on technical depth with the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams and influence solution design and delivery

  • Experience working across multiple technologies, vendors and third-party platforms, including managed services and strategic vendors

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders across global teams

  • Proven track record of leading architecture for large-scale, business-critical transformation programmes

What you’ll be like

The successful candidate will be a strategic and outcome‑driven architect, able to connect business priorities with clear, scalable technology direction. They will combine strong vision with pragmatism—defining long‑term platform strategy while making practical decisions that enable delivery at pace. With deep technical credibility, they will engage confidently across architecture, engineering and delivery teams, shaping solutions that are robust, aligned to enterprise standards and focused on delivering tangible business value.

They will operate as a collaborative and influential leader within a complex, global environment, driving alignment across business and technology stakeholders. A strong advocate of simplification, standardisation and reuse, they will actively reduce complexity and drive convergence across the platform. Clear in their communication and accountable in their approach, they will take ownership for the platform’s evolution, contribute to the wider architecture community, and continuously apply emerging technologies—particularly data and AI—to enhance investment capabilities and outcomes.
