We're looking for an Implementation Portfolio Analyst with strong attention to detail. Someone who takes a highly pro-active approach to assessing risk, highlighting and resolving process inefficiencies, and delivering process enhancements.
Overview of the Role: The Portfolio Implementation team interacts closely with the QEP team's Portfolio Managers, working alongside them in the management of their portfolios, focusing on trade order workflow, client take-on, cash flow management, currency hedging, portfolio transitions, corporate actions and investment restrictions. The team currently consists of 3 individuals, and we are looking to grow the team by adding a fourth team member. The role involves ensuring that the team's trades are executed in a timely and effective manner, liaising with Schroders’ global dealing teams and other functional areas. The team is responsible for overseeing the effective implementation of a high volume of trades and monitoring multiple markets and events. Role holders are expected to take a highly pro-active approach to assessing risk, highlighting and resolving process inefficiencies, delivering process enhancements, and should exhibit anticipation and sound decision-making.
The QEP Investment Team consists of 25 members, located in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and New York. The QEP Team manages $47bn across a range of global equity strategies, including dedicated EM strategies. The team is organised across three key functions:
- The portfolio management & research team is principally located in London with additional team members based in Hong Kong and Sydney. Its members are responsible for researching new ideas, enhancing existing models and making investment decisions.
- The portfolio implementation team is based in London and is responsible for day-to-day monitoring of client portfolios, implementing portfolio managers' investment decisions and managing cashflows.
- Our dedicated product management team is located in London and New York and are specialists in all aspects of our investment process enabling the investment team to focus on research and the management of our client’s assets.

What you'll do:
- Collaborate closely with QEP's Portfolio Managers, working alongside them in the management of their portfolios to ensure decisions are implemented in an accurate and timely manner.
- Drive continual improvement of the portfolio implementation process, effectively responding to market developments and changing priorities.
- Plan own workload, typically against a backdrop of changing priorities and or external events.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:
- A methodical, technical mind-set, encompassing Microsoft Excel knowledge and experience with Order Management Systems (ideally Aladdin).
- A knowledge of equities investing in general and trading in equities and derivative instruments (futures, currency forwards and swaps) in particular.
- An appreciation of ESG considerations and their implications for investing.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that’ll help:
- A familiarity with programming languages such as SQL would be desirable.
- Educated to degree level (or the equivalent); 2:1 or above, preferably in a numeric field, preferably progressing towards CFA designation.
- Experience of working in a similar or related role for an asset manager, or in a trading environment, would be helpful.
- Direct and effective communicator who is diligent, persuasive, confident and credible in dealing with management and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, anticipating potential issues and identifying solutions rather than highlighting problems.
