The Advanced Bond Beta (ABB) team run pooled and customised fixed income solutions for a variety of institutional clients, including global credit portfolios and government bond baskets run on a buy & maintain basis. The ABB Solutions Managers engage with our clients and prospective clients in solutions design and delivery, working closely with the ABB portfolio management team to do so.

We are looking for a Solutions Manager to provide support across the ABB Solutions Management team of four. We are looking for someone who is likely to be early on in their career but keen to develop knowledge of fixed income (especially investment grade corporate bonds) while already having a good technical grounding. We want someone who brings a positive attitude and energy to the role with a desire to learn and develop. The candidate should have the ability to help us improve our products, processes and materials, so we can deliver the best outcomes for our pension fund and insurance clients.

You will be involved in early stage prospective client work (supporting the team completing RFIs and RFPs, preparing pitch materials) as well as supporting our existing client base in answering their questions and being involved in the regular reporting cycle.

The ABB team is one of the largest buy & maintain credit teams in London and manages c. 18bn for institutional clients. Our clients are mainly based in the UK with a growing presence in Europe and are a combination of pension funds, insurance companies and wealth managers. We pride ourselves on the variety within our team with our solutions managers and portfolio managers coming from a wide range of backgrounds and skill sets. The portfolio managers and solutions managers work very closely together to understand our clients' needs and build solutions to fit their requirements. We integrate ESG and sustainability into everything that we do.

What you'll do:

  • Support the fixed income solutions team in day-to-day and periodic tasks
  • Help grow the buy & maintain business, developing strong relationships with colleagues across the firm including the Client Group and Client Solutions.
  • Responding to RFPs, client enquiry and developing our messaging to clients and supporting the generation of periodic client reporting.
  • Support our investment team in working with our clients to understand and deliver the outcomes they want
  • Co-ordinate and oversee the set-up of new client mandates as well as any changes to existing client mandates.
  • Improve our clients' experiences and how we report information to them

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:

  • Ideally have experience or interest in financial markets, economics, fixed income instruments and credit concepts
  • Ability to help prospective and current client engagement, and deliver complex concepts in a clear and concise way, both written and over time face to face
  • Desire to shape how we communicate with clients and to build and manage efficient processes to deliver information
  • A good knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint and Aladdin

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that'll help:

  • An understanding of derivatives, such as swaps and forwards
  • Awareness of liability focussed investors and shaping a credit portfolio around these objectives, in particular for UK insurers and defined benefit pension schemes
  • ESG within credit selection
  • Familiarity with credit portfolios, instruments and management processes
  • Familiarity with legal documents and client guidelines
