Schroders Greencoat is the renewable infrastructure specialist for Schroders Plc, one of Europe’s leading independent asset management groups. The business manages large-scale investments in renewable energy assets, such as wind farms, solar parks, and bioenergy facilities, primarily across the UK, Europe, Asia and the U.S.
A senior leadership role responsible for financial asset management across a large, complex portfolio of renewable SPVs.
- Oversight of hundreds of SPVs across multiple funds and jurisdictions, supported by outsourced administrators and asset managers
- Accountability for financial integrity, governance and reporting quality across the platform
- Leadership of a finance team and ownership of process standardisation, scalability and transformation
- Key finance partner to senior internal stakeholders, fund boards and external counterparties
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Operating Model
- Lead and develop a team of Financial Managers, driving performance, accountability and consistency
- Define and implement a scalable finance operating model to support continued portfolio growth
- Embed best practice across the function, ensuring standardisation across assets and funds
- Portfolio Financial Oversight
- Own financial oversight of a large-scale SPV portfolio, ensuring high-quality, timely reporting across all entities
- Review and challenge outputs from outsourced service providers (administrators / asset managers)
- Oversee delivery of: Budgets and forecasts, Statutory accounts and audits, Debt and lender reporting
- Maintain strong financial control environment across cash, payments and governance processes
- Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Lead audit processes across the portfolio, acting as senior contact with auditors
- Oversee VAT and corporate tax compliance in collaboration with external advisors
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (FRS102 / IFRS) and regulatory requirements
- Process Improvement & Transformation
- Own and drive continuous improvement of finance processes across a high-volume SPV environment
- Deliver: Standardisation of reporting and controls, Automation and use of digital tools, Improved data quality and accessibility, Enhance scalability of finance processes to support increasing portfolio size and complexity
- Stakeholder Management
- Act as senior finance contact for: Fund boards and SPV directors, Lenders, auditors, tax advisors and administrators, Internal investment, finance and technical teams
- Build strong external relationships and drive accountability across service providers
- Commercial & Strategic Contribution
- Provide financial insight to support: Asset performance optimisation, Portfolio-level decision-making, Contribute to broader strategic initiatives across the platform
- Governance Oversight
- Oversee SPV governance frameworks, including: Board cycles and reporting requirements, Policies and procedures across the portfolio
- Ensure consistent, high-quality board materials and compliance with governance standards
Key Requirements
- Essential
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- 10–15+ years’ experience in infrastructure, asset management or similar environments
- Proven leadership of finance teams in complex, multi-entity / SPV structures
- Strong experience working with outsourced service models
- Deep knowledge of financial reporting standards (FRS102 / IFRS)
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement, standardisation and scaling
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Desirable
- Experience in renewable energy / infrastructure investing
- Experience in finance transformation or operating model design
- Knowledge of financing structures and corporate tax
- Familiarity with data and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Python)
