Programme Overview
Schroders' two-year apprenticeship programmes give school and college leavers a hands-on introduction to investment management and the opportunity to develop key skills, gain professional qualifications and build an industry network. We have a wide range of opportunities across our business.
Investment20/20
You will join as an apprentice as part of the Investment20/20 programme. You will have opportunities to meet and network with apprentices across the industry, as well as participate in technical skills training, socials and insight events.
The Team
On this programme, you'll be part of the Group Internal Audit (GIA) team. The purpose of GIA is to strengthen Schroders' ability to create, protect, and sustain value by providing the Board and management with independent, risk-based, and objective assurance, advice, and insights. To achieve this, GIA provides challenge and assurance over the Group's control environment, risk management and governance arrangements implemented by management. Accordingly, GIA comprises the 'third line of defence' and works closely with Business teams and Risk & Compliance functions – the 'first' and 'second' lines of defence, respectively. GIA operates globally from headquarters in London, with permanent teams in Luxembourg and Singapore. The department consists of approximately 25 professionals from diverse backgrounds in practice, industry, and specialisms, organised into sub-teams covering Asset Management (public and private markets), Wealth Management, and Operations & Technology. The team is led by the Head of Group Internal Audit, reporting primarily to the Chair of the Board Audit and Risk Committee and secondarily to the Group Chief Executive.
What You'll Do
As an Internal Audit Apprentice, you will be an integral part of the Group Internal Audit team. This apprenticeship is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in internal audit while developing your professional skills in the financial services industry.
Key Responsibilities
- You will work closely with experienced auditors to assist in the evaluation of risk management and internal controls across a range of areas, such as investment, operations, compliance, and technology.
- You will develop your skills and gain experience in conducting audits across our Asset and Wealth Management businesses, gaining a deeper understanding of how they operate and provide value to clients.
- You will learn how to apply data analytics and AI tools to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of risk.
- You will help prepare audit reports that communicate findings and recommendations to management.
- You will participate in training sessions and workshops to expand your knowledge of internal audit methodologies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to interact with various departments and levels of management.
- Beyond auditing, you will also develop soft skills, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking individuals who are highly motivated, demonstrate a strong ethical compass and are committed to delivering assurance that supports and strengthens Schroders' ability to create, protect and sustain value. The ideal candidate will combine curiosity and critical thinking with a proactive and positive attitude to contribute effectively within a global internal audit function.
