Salary: Competitive

Location: London (Hybrid working model, 2 days a week office based, 3 days remote)

Fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent Legal Counsel role with Smart DCC. As Legal Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work in a constantly evolving sector and make a difference to the de-carbonisation of Great Britain by solving complicated legal problems in a fascinating and fast-paced regulated environment.

What will you be doing?

  • Business partnering and stakeholder management, developing into a pragmatic business partner who is empathetic to stakeholders’ objectives and works collaboratively to reach optimal solutions quickly.
  • Lead on high-value transactions and advise stakeholders on a range of commercial and legal issues, typically involving outsourcing/managed services, telecommunications, and technology.
  • Advise on a broad range of issues, including regulatory, privacy, employment, and disputes.
  • Work with other members of the Legal Senior Leadership team to evolve our function for continuous improvement in delivering legal services.
  • Be open to feedback and development to progress towards a senior legal counsel role, interfacing with senior leaders to help solve their business problems.

  • Extensive experience in a Legal Counsel role.
  • A passion for self-improvement and being a team player to continuously evolve and improve the legal team.
  • A proactive, customer-centric, solution-oriented, and intellectually curious problem-solver, able to distill complex legal issues into actionable, pragmatic, risk-based advice.
  • Capability to operate at a senior level with c-suite and stakeholders, demonstrating good stakeholder management skills and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to handle pressure and competing demands while enjoying working in a supportive, collegiate team.
  • Enjoyment of the productivity and lifestyle benefits of a hybrid environment, coming to the London office 2 days per week on average to deepen knowledge of the business and relationships with stakeholders.
