Job Description

Job Description

Delivery Lead – Data Operations Technology

Who we're looking for

Delivery Leads are accountable for ensuring teams deliver value consistently and effectively.

You create and maintain the conditions for delivery success: clear objectives, iterative plans, and motivated teams working at a sustainable pace. You focus on outcomes, ensuring the right balance between business priorities and technical quality while proactively managing dependencies, addressing risks, and removing impediments.

Equally at ease with business stakeholders and technical engineers, you bring credibility and challenge where needed, using agile and lean practices to improve flow and collaboration. Above all, you are pragmatic, adapting approaches to context, prioritising what delivers the most value, and recognising that sustained delivery depends on both mindset and discipline.

About Schroders

We're a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and people around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

Technology at Schroders

There's a huge amount of change going on at Schroders. Technology's shaping our business more and more, so there are many opportunities waiting to be grabbed. And because we're a big financial player, we can put hefty backing behind good ideas.

We're a serious business – we have enormous responsibilities to our clients and shareholders. But just because we're suited and booted, that doesn't make us stuffy; our tech teams are friendlier and more informal than you might expect.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

Global Business Platforms provides the technology platform for all of Schroders operational functions across Public Assets, Wealth Management and Private Markets.

We support all business domains across Schroders Group from traditional processes such as Trade Operations, Portfolio Accounting, Risk Management, Performance Measurement and Attribution, Regulatory Compliance, Client Reporting, and Workflow Automation.

In addition, we also support less traditional areas such as Real Estate, Private Equity, Private Debt and Credit Alternatives and Renewable Energy Infrastructure.

We also support Client Technology and Corporate function with their data solutions.

Our primary goal is to deliver business value through application of domain expertise and provision of robust solutions to our customers. The team works very closely with the Operations businesses across the Group to create a Technology platform with an emphasis on a stable operating environment that can function efficiently and at scale.

The teams primarily operate under agile ways of working but are flexible across large programmes of work.

The Data Technology Platforms team owns the standard data capabilities used to support Schroders' business domains. Spanning a variety of tools and technologies, the platform is the strategic solution for providing data throughout the organisation. Our solutions vary greatly depending on requirement and may involve database development, applications, and services. Our approach is Cloud-first" and we are actively developing Artificial Intelligence solutions.

We recognise that successfully balancing personal and professional commitments brings out the best in our teams and therefore all roles in Global Technology are reviewed for suitability for flexible working arrangements. This specific opportunity it is expected to require 5 days per week with around half your time remotely. We passionately believe that personal performance is enhanced by embracing the whole person and structuring a working environment that supports them.

What you'll do

  • Lead the delivery of value through one or more teams, ensuring objectives are clear, progress is visible, and delivery balances business change with technical quality.
  • Build, coach, and motivate teams, fostering collaboration, self organisation, and continuous improvement while protecting focus and removing delivery impediments.
  • Apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques to enable effective delivery and facilitate ongoing improvement.
  • Proactively manage dependencies, overcome obstacles, and ensure the best value is achieved within constraints.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering Leads to develop iterative plans, align roadmaps to strategy, and connect teams to user needs and problem spaces.
  • Line manage team members: setting objectives, supporting personal development, and providing regular feedback.
  • Manage budgets for your area, providing transparency in planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with others to ensure alignment of solutions to business needs.
  • Manage key stakeholders and build strong partnerships with other senior peers, ensuring input is sought, considered, and understood.
  • Oversee third party engagements with vendors and consultancies, ensuring value and delivery outcomes meet expectations.
  • Capture and analyse delivery metrics to produce insights for teams and stakeholders, using both data and context to evidence progress and improvement.
  • Contribute to the wider delivery community, defining and sharing best practice to enhance how we work across the organisation.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
