We are seeking a senior technology leader to define and deliver the strategic direction of our Group Operations Technology platform, supporting both public and private market business lines. This role will drive the evolution of critical capabilities that underpin core operational processes, adopting a platform-centric architecture approach to enable scalable, standardised, and resilient outcomes across the organisation.
Working at the intersection of business and technology, with dual accountability across both domains, you will lead a process-driven strategy that ensures consistent and efficient delivery. This will be underpinned by an integrated data and AI strategy, with Snowflake as the firm's strategic data platform, enabling scalable data products, robust governance, and advanced analytics, alongside AI-driven process automation, intelligent workflows, and enhanced decision-making.
At the heart of the platform, Aladdin will serve as the firm's core Portfolio Management infrastructure, anchoring front-to-back investment lifecycle capabilities across public and private markets. You will ensure its effective integration within the broader platform architecture, aligning data, processes, and services to enhance transparency, efficiency, and operational control, while continuing to leverage emerging technologies such as DLT and blockchain.
The Group Operations Technology team sits at the heart of our Global Operating Platform, which underpins the firm’s client and investment lifecycle across public and private markets. It forms part of the Asset Management Platform (AMP), Schroders' technology organisation responsible for delivering the platforms that enable our business. Within this model, the team provides the core operational technology capabilities that drive scalable, efficient, and consistent outcomes.
This role has a dual reporting line to the COO of the Global Operating Platform and the CTO of the Asset Management Platform, reflecting its joint accountability for business outcomes and technology strategy.
What you’ll do:
- Define and own the strategic direction of the Group Operations Technology platform, ensuring alignment to business priorities across public and private market business lines.
- Drive a cohesive strategy to align business and technology, placing data and AI at the core of the platform to enable convergence, simplify operating models, and deliver scalable, value-driven outcomes across Group Operations.
- Lead the evolution of a platform-centric architecture underpinned by Aladdin as the core Portfolio Management infrastructure, driving standardisation, reuse, and simplification across core capabilities to improve scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Establish and embed a process-driven operating model, ensuring consistent, well-governed delivery across the full lifecycle—from design through to build, run, and continuous optimisation.
- Deliver measurable business outcomes, enabling efficient, scalable operational processes and improving end-to-end performance across Group Operations.
- Partner with senior business stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor to shape demand, prioritise investment, and ensure technology delivery is fully aligned to business strategy.
- Drive disciplined platform governance, including adherence to Global Technology policies and standards (e.g. SDLC, architecture governance), as well as investment prioritisation, risk management, and delivery assurance across a complex application landscape.
- Own and manage a significant technology budget of circa £30m, ensuring effective allocation of investment, strong financial governance, and clear linkage between spend and business value.
- Lead, develop, and provide strategic oversight to a large, platform-aligned organisation of circa 200 technology professionals, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Leverage data, AI, and emerging technologies (including DLT and blockchain) to unlock new capabilities, enhance transparency, and improve decision-making.
What you’ll be like:
You are a strategic, outcome-driven technology leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about aligning business and technology to deliver meaningful impact. You bring a strong platform and architectural mindset, coupled with a disciplined, process-driven approach to execution. You are confident operating at senior levels, able to influence, challenge, and build trusted relationships across business and technology.
As a leader, you take ownership, set clear direction, and build high-performing teams, while actively fostering a supportive and inclusive culture that develops and nurtures the workforce of the future across a combined technology and operations environment, driving accountability, simplicity, and continuous improvement.
