Schroders’ two-year apprenticeship programmes give school and college leavers a hands‑on introduction to investment management and the opportunity to develop key skills, gain professional qualifications and build an industry network. We have a wide range of opportunities across our business.
You will join as an apprentice as part of the Investment20/20 programme. You will have opportunities to meet and network with apprentices across the industry, as well as participate in technical skills training, socials and insight events.
The Team: On this programme, you’ll be part of the Schroders UK Client Group. You will get hands‑on experience within your specific team, as well as working towards a professional qualification (Level 4 apprenticeship). The UK Client Group is a dedicated team of professionals that work collaboratively to ensure that Schroders delivers a seamless and tailored service to our clients. The team is made up of experts from across the organisation, including Sales, Business Development and Client Service. By working together, the Client Group drives collaboration and a deep understanding of our clients’ needs, which allows us to provide them with the best possible investment solutions. The Client Group ensures that clients receive a consistent and high‑quality experience, delivering the best of Schroders to our clients.
What you’ll do: You’ll be working alongside a specific team for the duration of your apprenticeship, this could be within Pensions, Insurance, Wealth, Client Service, or Consultant Relations. More information will be provided on the specific teams during the selection stage of the interview process. As an apprentice you will spend 20% of time on qualification and 80% on collaboration. You will need to understand the needs of the team, the team’s client base and deliver a high‑quality service.
- Learn About the UK Client Base: Develop a solid understanding of the UK client base and client segments, including key products, services, and capabilities offered.
- Client Relationship Development: Assist in building and nurturing client relationships, attending events and engagements where required. Address client queries promptly and professionally via email and phone.
- Sales Support: Provide support to the sales team in their initiatives and activities aimed at marketing our services and capabilities to clients.
- Data Understanding and Collaboration: Gain insights into client data and collaborate with various teams, such as legal and operations, to effectively support client needs.
- Internal Query Management: Manage and respond to internal queries in a timely and professional manner, ensuring effective communication across the organisation.
Who we’re looking for: Candidates must be living in England and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years prior to the apprenticeship start date. Candidates should be aged 18 or over by the relevant intake start date, and be recent school or college leavers (A-levels, BTECs or equivalent), or unsure whether university is the right path for them. Candidates must not be enrolled in another government-funded apprenticeship or further education programme when starting with us. We are looking for individuals who are ambitious and enthusiastic, eager to learn about the industry, flexible with a keen eye for detail and good IT skills, and possess a natural flair for developing relationships and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Qualifications required: A-levels (or equivalent) in any subjects – no minimum UCAS points required. Level 2 in both English and Maths (GCSE grade 9‑4 or equivalent) for those undertaking a level‑3 or higher apprenticeship.
Skills that will help: Flexible approach and willingness to engage in various tasks and projects. Attention to detail and accuracy. Numerate with a problem-solving mindset. Experience in providing excellent customer service is beneficial.
