Washington Schools Mutual Services is a not-for-profit recruitment service set up by Northeast Education Trusts and based within one of our schools in Washington. We work by providing an efficient and diligent recruitment service to our schools alongside offering our candidates full Health and Wellbeing service including 24/7 access to a GP. Within our Trusts, there is a need for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join a partner school in Newcastle for a long-term period.

Job Purpose:

  • Support Teaching and Learning: Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons, adapting resources to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs.
  • Lead Small Group Sessions: Plan and deliver focused interventions or activities to support pupils' progress in line with curriculum objectives.
  • Classroom Management: Supervise pupils during lessons or activities, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Mentor and Guide Pupils: Provide pastoral support to promote pupils' personal development, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with lesson preparation, marking, record-keeping, and the organisation of classroom materials.

To be considered for the Higher-Level Teaching Assistant position in Washington Northeast of England, you will be required to have the following:

  • Recognised UK teaching qualifications or overseas equivalent
  • Successful experience being a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant
  • Experience as an HLTA and proven success in raising achievement as a subject leader or classroom practitioner.
  • The ability to provide references for previous teaching experience in the UK
  • Have the right to work within the UK
