Location: Reporting in the morning to Clean & Green Depot and then completing routes out in the public areas within the Walsall Borough.

Pay Rate: £14.82 per hour. PAYE Hours: 37 hours per week. Shift Pattern: 6:30am - 4:30pm, 4 days on between Monday - Friday / 1 rest day per week. Contract: Temporary basis, 3 months on-going.

About the Role

Opus People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Street Cleansing Operative with a strong focus on operating a mini road sweeper on behalf of our Client, Walsall Council. This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable and hardworking individual looking to join a dedicated environmental services team. You will play a key role in maintaining cleanliness across public roads and spaces, helping to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating a mini road sweeper across designated routes
  • Street cleansing services and litter picking
  • Street weed control
  • Removal of fly tipping
  • Play area inspections, reporting, and basic maintenance
  • Graffiti removal
  • Vegetation control
  • Mechanical sweeping operations
  • Bulky item collection services
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any faults
  • Working independently and as part of a team
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence with C1 entitlement
  • No more than 3 points on your licence
  • Previous experience operating similar vehicles, Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance Operative roles are desirable but not essential
  • Good work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work early morning shifts and outdoors in all weather conditions
