We are working with a highly reputable and recognised organisation within the insurance and financial services sector to recruit a Senior Technical Accountant to join their established Finance function in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, fully qualified accountant to join a complex, regulated organisation and develop their career within the insurance sector. The opportunity could particularly suit someone already working within insurance or reinsurance, or a qualified accountant currently working within accountancy practice who has strong audit, statutory reporting or financial reporting experience and is looking to make their move into industry.
The Role
- Working as part of the technical accounting and statutory reporting function, you will support the delivery of statutory and technical accounting requirements across a complex group structure.
- Supporting the preparation of statutory financial accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Supporting the preparation of technical accounting papers across key audit and reporting matters.
- Researching and interpreting new and emerging technical accounting issues and helping determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
- Working closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders to support successful audit clearance.
- Providing technical accounting guidance and support to wider Finance teams.
- Supporting independent reviews of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensuring relevant financial controls, processes and documentation are appropriately maintained.
- Building effective relationships across a large, matrix organisation.
- Developing your knowledge of accounting requirements across insurance, reinsurance and investment activities.
Who We Are Looking For
- You will be a fully qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA or CIMA - with a strong grounding in financial and technical accounting. For this opportunity, candidates must be fully qualified; part-qualified and qualified-by-experience applications will not be considered.
- We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with:
- Experience within insurance, reinsurance or wider financial services.
- Strong statutory and financial reporting experience.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, including FRS 101 and FRS 102.
- Experience of financial audit and balance sheet reconciliations.
- The ability to interpret and communicate technical accounting matters clearly.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The confidence to work independently within a complex and regulated environment.
We are also very interested in speaking with fully qualified accountants from accountancy practice, particularly those with experience auditing or supporting insurance, reinsurance or financial services clients who are now looking to take their first step into industry. This is a great opportunity to bring your technical accounting expertise into a leading sector environment, working within an established Finance function with exposure to complex statutory and technical accounting matters.
