Opus People Solutions is hiring a Senior Planning Policy Officer for a Local Authority client in Northamptonshire. The role is 37 hours per week, remote working 2 days onsite, contract long‑term 3 months+.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional planning policy advice and information to the Council in accordance with Town and Country Planning and associated legislation.
- Assist with delivery of the Local Plan and evidence base, including the Strategic Land Availability Assessment, Site Selection, and Infrastructure Delivery Plan.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all internal and external customers, including Councillors.
- Implement the Council's place shaping agenda, ensuring the right schemes are in the right place at the right time.
- Support the preparation and review of Local Plans, Neighbourhood Plans, Supplementary Planning Documents, and other planning policy/guidance.
- Research and advise the Council on statutory obligations for land‑use planning policy, development planning issues, UK Government, strategic and sub‑regional planning policy, and Development Plans of other authorities.
- Liaise with Development Management colleagues, other Council officers, Local Authorities, statutory bodies, developers and the public on the Council's land use policy and planning matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recent experience of planning policy formulation and project work.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle stress, and meet deadlines.
- Sound knowledge of planning policy, legislation, and guidance.
- Previous experience within Local Government.
