Opus People Solutions is hiring a Private Sector Housing Surveyor to assist the Disabled Facilities Grants Team within a Local Authority client based in Northamptonshire. The position requires 37 hours per week, offers hybrid working, an umbrella rate of £35-40 per hour, and a contract length of 12 months or more.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Disabled Facilities Grants Team with survey, design and tender package for mandatory adaptation grants.
- Provide advice and support to clients, contractors and Occupational Therapists throughout the process.
- Visit clients in their homes to discuss needs and advise on available adaptations in conjunction with the Occupational Therapy Service.
- Survey, prepare technical schedules of work/specifications and drawings, taking into account Occupational Therapist recommendations and client wishes.
- Liaise with external consultants including architects, engineers, solicitors, banks, building societies, the Occupational Therapy Service, social workers and voluntary organisations to ensure timely case progress.
- Obtain quotations from approved contractors or client‑requested contractors, evaluate, and make recommendations.
- Prepare files for tendering, evaluate tenders where applicable.
- Coordinate and submit applications for planning permission, building regulations approval and party wall where appropriate.
Ideal Candidate
- Professional qualification in Building Studies/Construction.
- Experience or awareness of building surveying/design or other housing/construction related fields.
- Experience in case project management, supervising contracts for building works, including preparation of technical specifications, interim payments, variations and final certifications.
- Understanding of building construction, health and safety and building control procedures.
- Awareness of procurement processes, including arranging and supervising contracts.
- Previous experience within Local Government.
