Opus People Solutions are hiring for a Senior Health & Safety Advisor within a Local Authority client based in Coventry.

The role is 37 hours per week, offering hybrid working (1-2 days on-site plus 1 office day per week for team meetings), and £20.29 per hour with an initial contract length of 3 months+.

Role Overview

  • Providing professional health and safety advice and guidance across a large and diverse Local Authority.
  • Supporting managers with risk assessments, audits, inspections and accident investigations.
  • Reviewing and developing health and safety policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Delivering health and safety training, information and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Monitoring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Supporting contractor management, CDM compliance and corporate health and safety initiatives.
  • Producing reports, analysing incident trends and recommending preventative actions.
  • Working closely with senior managers, Trade Unions, external agencies and enforcement bodies where required.
  • Ideal Candidate Experience
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (essential).
  • IOSH Membership (CMIOSH, Grad IOSH or working towards Chartered status).
  • Health and safety auditing, inspections, investigations and risk assessments.
  • Interpreting and applying health and safety legislation within complex organisations.
  • Developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Delivering health and safety training and guidance to a range of stakeholders.
  • CDM Regulations, contractor management and compliance monitoring.
  • Previous experience within Local Government.

All offers will be subject to satisfactory compliance screening, including right to work in the UK and references.

In addition, due to the nature of the role a DBS check will be undertaken.

Applicants must also be able to travel efficiently to sites across Coventry as required.
