Multi Skilled Trade OperativePay: £17.90 per hour PAYELocation: North Northamptonshire, predominantly Kettering & Corby Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pmContract: Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of North Northamptonshire Council for an experienced Multi Skilled Trade Operative with a strong carpentry background to join their Housing Maintenance & Development team.This is a fantastic opportunity to secure an ongoing contract with a respected local authority, carrying out essential maintenance and refurbishment work across temporary accommodation and housing stock throughout North Northamptonshire.We're particularly keen to hear from candidates whose main trade is Carpentry, with the ability to turn their hand to a range of additional repair and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works across occupied and void properties
  • Undertake carpentry works including easing, adjusting and fitting fire doors
  • Complete kitchen repairs and installations including worktops and kitchen units
  • Carry out basic plastering, patching and brickwork repairs
  • Respond to repair requests within occupied accommodation
  • Prepare properties to a high standard for new tenancies
  • Travel between sites across North Northamptonshire as required
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with Council standards
  • Accurately complete work orders and documentation using Council systems
  • The role contributes directly to maintaining safe, high-quality accommodation for local residents.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven employment history as a Multi Skilled Trade Operative, Carpenter, Joiner or similar trade professional
  • Extensive practical carpentry experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Access to your own vehicle for travelling to and between work locations, as well as potential use during work hours
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working within social housing
  • Experience carrying out repairs and maintenance within void properties
  • Kitchen fitting and repair experience
  • Basic plastering, patching and brickwork skills
  • NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent trade qualification
  • Time-served apprenticeship background

Additional Information

  • Workers must have their own vehicle available for use during working hours
  • Mileage will be paid at the standard rate
  • Asbestos Awareness certification is desirable; however, training can be provided
  • Opportunity to work on a variety of housing maintenance projects across Corby and Kettering
