Interim Insurance Manager £500 per day (flexible) | 4 Month Contract with Possible Extension | Hybrid/Remote

We are seeking an experienced Interim Insurance Manager to join a busy Local Government organisation on an initial 4 month contract, with the potential for extension.

This is primarily a hybrid/ remote role, although the successful candidate will be required to attend the office initially to collect IT equipment and attend occasional meetings as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the organisation's insurance function within a fast paced environment.
  • Provide managerial and supervisory oversight to the insurance team.
  • Support procurement and insurance related activities, ensuring compliance with Local Government regulations.
  • Participate in the evaluation of insurance tenders and procurement exercises.
  • Manage insurance placements and renewals, working closely with brokers and insurers.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Provide strategic insurance advice and support across the organisation.

About You

  • Strong insurance management experience, ideally gained within Local Government, Public Sector, or organisations dealing with public authority risks.
  • Experience of insurance procurement and tender evaluation processes.
  • Proven managerial and supervisory experience.
  • Strong underwriting knowledge, particularly around insurance placements, programme design, and procurement activities rather than claims management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and customer service skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within Local Authority insurance functions.
  • Candidates from the private sector will also be considered, provided they have broad insurance expertise and a strong understanding of public sector or public authority insurance risks.
  • Contract Length: 4 months initially, with possible extension

Location: Hybrid/Remote (office attendance required for IT equipment collection and occasional business needs)
