About the Role

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker (Advanced Practitioner level) to join its Safeguarding & Support Team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and restorative local authority, managing complex safeguarding cases while making a positive impact on the lives of children and families.

The Safeguarding & Support Team works with

  • Children in Need
  • Child Protection Court proceedings
  • Adoption work

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to allocated safeguarding work in line with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Undertake assessments in accordance with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
  • Develop and implement family-led restorative plans based on assessed needs.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, and partner agencies.
  • Promote participation and partnership working with children and their families.
  • Complete regular reviews of plans, recording outcomes and updating interventions accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic and manual case records.
  • Prepare detailed reports for statutory reviews, child protection conferences, panels, and court proceedings.
  • Participate actively in supervision, performance management, and professional development activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Significant experience working within Children's Safeguarding Services.
  • Strong experience managing child protection cases, children in need cases, and court work.
  • Ability to work effectively within a restorative practice framework.
  • Experience handling complex caseloads.
