Essendene Lodge School is an independent Preparatory School and Nursery in Caterham, Surrey. The school caters for boys and girls aged 2 to 11, with a full‑time onsite nursery for children aged 2 to 4. The role
Essendene Lodge School seeks a passionate and inspirational Year 1 Class Teacher for a fixed‑term contract from September 2026 to February 2027. The position is full time and based at the school in Essendene Road, Caterham, Surrey.
Key responsibilities
- Inspire children with enthusiasm and a love of learning by delivering high‑quality teaching that engages pupils.
- Prepare and plan for teaching, taking account of the requirements of children of all abilities.
- Prepare and develop teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment, and pastoral arrangements.
- Provide feedback and guidance to pupils and their parents in an engaging way that encourages continuous learning at home.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Sound knowledge of the requirements of the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- Experience of teaching in Key Stage 1.
- A strength and passion for teaching this age group.
- Experience of teaching phonics (advantageous).
- All new staff are subject to enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks, employment checks, two satisfactory references and registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
