About the school

Novalis Trust is a charity that supports children and adults with neurodevelopmental difficulties and other learning needs. The Trust operates two schools in Gloucestershire: Cotswold Chine School in Minchinhampton and William Morris School in Eastington. Both schools provide a nurturing environment and specialise in a trauma-informed, attachment-focused, relationship-based therapeutic approach to teaching.

The role

We are seeking a Drama Teacher to work across both schools, with a split of two days at William Morris School and three days at Cotswold Chine School. The position is open to both ECTs and suitably qualified experienced teachers. Groups will be supported by pupils’ usual class teachers, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop strong knowledge of trauma-informed, attachment-focused therapeutic teaching within a supportive team.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach drama to individuals, small groups and whole classes across both schools.
  • Work with pupils aged 7 to 19.
  • Teach at accreditation level (LAMDA, GCSE or similar), with training provided where necessary.
  • Build relationships with young people using a trauma-informed and attachment-focused approach.

Requirements

  • Qualified teacher status with drama teaching experience.
  • The ability to form relationships with young people, reliability, resilience and a flexible approach.
  • Willingness to access training in trauma-informed and attachment-focused teaching.
  • Experience in special needs is not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Expected start date: September 2026.
