About the school

The role

Drumbeat School and ASD Service is seeking a friendly, caring and proactive Midday Meal Supervisor to join the school community in London, Lewisham. Lunchtime offers rich learning opportunities for pupils. The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive team, supervising pupils in the dining hall and playground, encouraging independence and supporting the social and emotional needs of pupils. Duties include helping younger children with lunch and leading playtime activities. The role suits someone who enjoys working with children and wishes to make a positive difference each day.

Key responsibilities

  • Encourage appropriate exercise and activities to promote health and well-being.
  • Supervise pupils during lunch and play, ensuring everyone feels safe, included and respected.
  • Help maintain the dining hall and surrounding areas in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition.
  • Support children who may need extra help or encouragement.
  • Respond to pupils’ welfare needs, including comforting them, and report concerns to the senior midday supervisor or class teacher.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns in line with the school’s child protection policy.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff to create a caring lunchtime environment.
  • Act as a role model for positive behaviour and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Complete a full profile and application form. CVs will not be accepted.
  • Provide a continuous employment history from leaving school to the present, with clear explanations for any gaps.
  • Show in the personal statement how you match the requirements of the person specification, with examples from past work history.
  • Successful applicants will be subject to social media checks and an enhanced DBS check.
  • Applicants who have lived or worked abroad for more than three months since the age of 18 will need to obtain a police check from the relevant country.
