School Staffing Solutions are working with a secondary SEN school in Caerphilly who require a Teaching Assistant to mentor and support their pupils. The school provides high quality learning experiences within a small, focused nurturing environment to secondary school aged children who have an IDP/ALN Statement and have ADHD and/or express behaviours that are challenging or inappropriate in a community setting. The staff to student ratio is usually 2:4 in all classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentoring, supporting and inspiring learners by supporting them with curriculum-based learning in the classroom, on home tuition and outreach and through outdoor activities
  • Assist with the preparation of learning material and contributing to the delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on behavioural management
  • Daily reports on learners' progress and barriers to learning
  • Interaction with parents/care givers on a regular basis

The successful candidate will have:

  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND
  • At least two years' experience minimum of working in a SEND environment or similar unit/provision
  • A level 3 TA qualification is advantageous
