About us
School Space aims to create thriving schools at the centre of thriving communities. We do this by partnering with schools across the UK to hire out their spaces in the evenings and weekends to a range of community groups. The income generated is used by our partner schools to improve educational outcomes and facilities for their students, in addition to building a stronger connection with the surrounding community.
Our culture
Since we were founded as a social enterprise by two school students in 2011, we've grown to become a tight knit team of around 30 people who are united by a goal of changing the education sector for the better. We also have a fabulous remote team of over 200 Community Connectors who work at our partner schools in the evenings and weekends.
Outbound Sales
Why does this role exist? The outbound sales role is focused on selling to customers who use our schools, growing the utilisation of the spaces hired out within our schools. You will come into an existing outbound sales team with established practices. Your role will be to take up these practices and work on new ways to meet and exceed your personal target. This will involve proactively identifying new customers to target.
What will you be accountable for?
You will be accountable for hitting your revenue targets each month, by adding new bookings into our schools. Throughout this you will ensure a smoothly run process across all touch points; the Customer, School Space and the School. You will be accountable for lead generation and accurate pipeline management, ensuring you adhere to the company Service Level Agreement needs of your role.
How will you know it’s going brilliantly?
The revenue (volume and value of customer bookings within our school portfolio) is constantly growing and you are exceeding your targets. You achieve success by topping up your pipeline through regular outbound outreach and closing those deals. You are very adept at passing on all relevant information to School Spaces’s implementation teams so as to ensure smooth running events. You have personal Trustpilot and Google reviews of 5 stars and customer satisfaction scores from your booked customers averaging 90%.
What will help you succeed in this role?
- Lead Generation: You thrive on the constant need to generate customer interest for School Space opportunities with the goal of turning that interest into a sale. Ability to identify and qualify potential leads through your own research and networking.
- Communication Skills: Ability to convey information clearly, concisely and persuasively, both verbally and in writing, retaining your lead’s interest.
- Listening Skills: Active listening to understand customer needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
- Product Knowledge: You will be expected to visit at least 3 schools per quarter. In-depth understanding of the school spaces on offer as well as booking requirements is essential to be able to address blockers confidently and operate at speed.
- Relationship Building: Skills in establishing rapport and trust with prospects to facilitate long‑term connections, whilst maintaining a professional relationship that creates a necessary buffer to protect School Space should anything go wrong in the future.
- Time Management: Effectively managing time to prioritise tasks and maximise productivity.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust strategies based on feedback, school requirements and changing market conditions.
- Resilience: Persistence in the face of rejection and the ability to stay motivated.
- Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with our tech stack (Zendesk, Pipedrive, Platform and Slack) to manage leads through the sales process.
