The Royal Air Force (RAF) is seeking motivated individuals to join as People Specialists (HR). This full-time role offers diverse, exciting, and highly rewarding opportunities to provide professional support to RAF personnel across the UK and overseas.

Role Overview

People Specialists provide essential HR and administrative services to RAF personnel. The role includes advising on pay and allowances, supporting deployments, managing career assignments, and delivering welfare support. Specialists may also work in analytics, business intelligence, executive support, and recruitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on and administer pay, allowances, movements, travel, and accommodation
  • Process performance appraisals
  • Prepare personnel for deployment to operations and military exercises, often deploying alongside them
  • Provide welfare support to personnel in the UK and overseas
  • Manage career assignments in the UK and overseas
  • Contribute to analytics, business intelligence, executive support, business support, employment policy, accounting, and finance
  • Undertake roles in recruitment, instructing/training, and other HR functions

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Age: 16–47 (applications accepted from 15 years and 9 months)
  • UK, Republic of Ireland, or Commonwealth citizenship (with right-to-work status)
  • Residency in the UK for 5 years immediately preceding application (minimum 3 years considered)
  • GCSE/National 5 or equivalent at Grade C/4 or above in English Language and Mathematics
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Phase 1: Basic Training
  • Phase 2: 8 weeks at MOD Worthy Down
  • Qualification: Foundation Certificate in People Practice (CIPD Level 3)
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths required (provided at no cost if not already held)
