Role Overview
Community Payback Supervisors lead small teams of people on probation, ensuring tasks are completed safely, effectively, and to a high standard. The role involves motivating service users, maintaining discipline, and supporting rehabilitation by helping individuals gain practical skills and work experience. Supervisors also contribute to community improvement projects such as litter picking, graffiti removal, and restoring public spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre‑placement inductions and daily “toolbox” talks to brief service users
- Supervise and motivate groups to complete unpaid work tasks safely and effectively
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and complete risk assessments
- Manage tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safe use by service users
- Monitor attendance and promote successful completion of community orders
- Maintain accurate records on the case management system
- Support vocational training opportunities and workplace assessments for service users
- Promote Community Payback with colleagues, external agencies, and the public
- Uphold equality, inclusion, and confidentiality policies at all times
Required Skills and Experience
- Full UK manual driving licence (mandatory)
- Experience of practical skills and problem‑solving in a workplace environment
- Effective interpersonal skills with ability to supervise constructively while maintaining authority
- Commitment to teamwork and collaborationKnowledge of workplace safety, public protection, and risk management
- Good written communication skills
- Ability to model pro‑social attitudes and behaviours
Technical Requirements
- Basic knowledge of First Aid (willingness to undertake training)
- Willingness to attain IOSH Level 3 or equivalent
- Willingness to achieve and maintain Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent
