Role Overview
The Dental Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience. You’ll manage appointments, handle payments, maintain patient records, and support the smooth operation of the clinic through administrative and financial tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls professionally and courteously
- Welcome patients on arrival and provide a friendly reception experience
- Manage appointment scheduling efficiently and accurately
- Collect and record patient payments
- Maintain patient records securely and accurately
- Complete and return NHS and private scheme forms within deadlines
- Encourage prompt payments and manage outstanding debts per practice policy
- Liaise with dental laboratories, suppliers, and external organisations
- Send patient recalls and compile day sheets
- Keep reception and waiting areas clean and tidy
- Organise and control stock supplies
- Undertake training as required to develop skills
- Attend refresher training for medical emergencies and CPR
Eligibility Requirements
- Prior experience in a receptionist or administrative role (preferred)
- Experience in dental or healthcare environments (advantageous but not essential)
- Exceptional telephone etiquette and customer service skills
- Strong organisational abilities with composure under pressure
- Proficiency in IT (Microsoft Office, email, booking software); dental software experience advantageous
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Punctual, dependable, and a strong team player
