The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our remote team and play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and finance services. You’ll manage day-to-day financial operations for a portfolio of clients, working closely with fellow Bookkeepers, Accountants, and Finance Directors.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, values client relationships, and is passionate about small business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate data entry and maintain financial records
- Manage sales and purchase ledgers
- Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare pay runs and assist with VAT and CIS returns
- Support monthly and quarterly management accounts and tax filings
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and customers
- Contribute to internal process improvements and ad-hoc projects
A Typical Day Might Include
- Processing purchase invoices and setting up pay runs
- Conducting bank reconciliations
- Preparing VAT/CIS returns
- Handling client queries and supplier communications
- Enhancing internal quality controls
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of bookkeeping and VAT experience
- 1+ year in an accounting/bookkeeping practice
- Proficiency in Xero
- Experience working with SMEs and startups
- Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Adaptability and a proactive mindset
- Familiarity with Google Suite
- Payroll processing experience
- Knowledge of Dext or similar accounting tools
- Budgeting and forecasting experience
- Understanding of FRS 102/105 accounting standards
