Purple is seeking a Support Worker to provide care and supervision for a 7-year-old boy with Autism. This role offers flexible hours during school holidays and weekends, with a focus on supporting the child in both home and community environments.

About the Service User:

  • L is a happy 7-year-old boy diagnosed with Autism.
  • Enjoys electronics (Nintendo Switch, phone games), outdoor play (running, climbing), and sensory activities (digging, water play).
  • Speaks a few words, uses repetitive language, babbles, and can usually make his needs known.

Job Summary:

The Support Worker will engage L in activities he enjoys, provide constant supervision, and help him access the community safely. The role requires patience, kindness, and clear communication to support his emotional regulation and daily routines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support L in the home environment and during community activities (e.g., park visits).
  • Engage him in preferred activities (electronics, outdoor play, sensory tasks).
  • Provide constant supervision to ensure safety.
  • Use techniques to help L regulate emotions during challenging times.
  • Communicate clear instructions and maintain a supportive environment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting children with Autism.
  • Awareness of behaviours associated with Autism.
  • Patient, kind, friendly, and able to communicate clearly.
  • Must be alert, active, and able to provide constant supervision.
  • Driving licence preferred.
  • Must have Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Must have UK work authorisation.
  • Ability to commute or relocate to Royston SG8.
